The Tyrconnell 10 Year Old Port Cask Finish is an Irish single malt from Cooley Distillery in County Louth, bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made from malted barley, double distilled in pot stills and unpeated.
The whiskey spends ten years in ex-bourbon barrels before a further six to eight months in port casks from Portugal's Douro Valley. It is bottled non-chill-filtered.
On the nose there are red berries, raspberry jam, ripe plum and cherry, with dark chocolate and honeyed malt. The palate is sweet, jammy and full, with red fruit, walnut and cocoa, and the finish runs long with marmalade, light tannin and dark chocolate.
