Crown Royal Extra Rare is a 29 year old blended Canadian whisky from the Gimli distillery in Manitoba, matured in oak barrels. Only 6,000 bottles were produced, and it is bottled at 46% (92 proof) in a 75cl size.
It comes in a crown shaped crystal decanter, with a purple and gold brocade bag and a collector's box. Canadian rye grain defines its character.
Deep amber with mahogany glints, it opens with baking spices, orchard fruit, toasted oak, dried fig and a warm tobacco note. The palate is full bodied and layered, with rye spice, licorice, ripe fruit, toffee and a little vanilla over a silky texture. The finish is exceptionally long and warming, closing gently sweet.
