Crown Royal Fine De Luxe is a blended Canadian whisky made at the Gimli Distillery in Manitoba, in a 750ml bottle at 40% ABV (80 proof). It is a blend of 50 whiskies, distilled in column and copper pot stills from three mash bills of Manitoba-grown corn, rye and malted barley, then matured in a mix of new and used American oak barrels.
Samuel Bronfman of Seagram created the brand in 1939 for the Canadian visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. It comes in a crown-shaped decanter with a purple felt bag.
The nose is soft vanilla and light oak with toffee, gentle fruit and a hint of warm spice. The palate is creamy, with vanilla, caramel and honey, and the finish is clean and sweet.
