Crown Royal Fine De Luxe is a Canadian blended whisky made from 50 aged whiskies. Corn, rye and barley are distilled in different styles and matured in oak before being married. It is bottled at 40% in a 1 litre bottle, chill-filtered and without added colour.
The brand was created in 1939 for the visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to Canada. The whisky is made in Gimli, on the western shore of Lake Winnipeg, and Coffey Rye, distilled in a Coffey still, sits at the heart of the blend.
The nose has maple syrup and vanilla, light fruit and a hint of fresh bread. The palate is creamy, with honey, marzipan, toasted nuts and oak. The finish is long and smooth, with black tea and dry wood.
