This is a 12 year old Dalmore single malt finished in Malmsey casks, in a one litre bottle. The name Black Pearl refers to Madeira, which is known as the Pearl of the Atlantic.
The colour is amber. The nose opens with vanilla, caramel and apricot jam, with hints of port, burnt cake, a little smoke, then hay and coffee. The palate is creamy, malty and sweet, with crystallised oranges, marmalade, mocha and dried herbs such as thyme and rosemary. The finish is long, with rum, orange liqueur and cooked caramel.
