Dalmore King Alexander III is a Highland single malt named after the moment in 1263 when Colin of Kintail, Chief of the Mackenzie Clan, saved King Alexander III from a charging stag. That story is the origin of the Royal Stag emblem used by Dalmore.
The whisky is finished across six cask types: small-batch bourbon, Matusalem Oloroso sherry, Madeira, Marsala, port pipes and Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques. It is bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is red berry fruit with soft tropical hints and passion fruit. The palate shows citrus zest, vanilla pod, crème caramel, crushed almonds and gentle oak, and the finish is warming, with cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger.
