This is The Dalmore King Alexander III, a single malt in a 70cl bottle at 40% ABV, released as a 2025 Chinese New Year edition. It comes in a red and gold presentation box made for the Lunar New Year.
The whisky is matured across six cask types: ex-bourbon, Matusalem oloroso sherry, Madeira, Marsala, Port and Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks. The technique was pioneered by The Dalmore's Master Distiller, Richard Paterson.
The nose offers red berries, citrus peel and vanilla pod with roasted nuts and cocoa. The palate is silky, with dark chocolate, plums, caramel, coffee, orange zest and sweet spice. The finish is long, with cinnamon, nutmeg, oak, dried fruit and honeyed malt.
