The Quiet Blade is a 13-year-old Dalrymple blended malt, the third edition in the WhiskyHeroes series from Brave New Spirits. It was bottled at 57.9% in 170 bottles of 70cl, without chill-filtration or added colour.
The main component comes from the Ailsa Bay Distillery in the Lowlands. A touch of teaspooning makes it a blended malt. It was finished in a first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry quarter cask.
Dates and plum jam on the nose sit beside dark chocolate, caramel and toffee, with oak, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate brings dried fruit and maple syrup with mocha, roasted hazelnuts and liquorice. The long finish shows dark cocoa, ripe cherries, a little tobacco and fine leather.
