Dark Thoughts OOG Historic PX Octave 2026 McNeill's Choice (48.6%)

This is a peated single malt bottled in 2026 by McNeill's Choice. It is the first special edition in the Dark Thoughts series, in which whiskies from a peated distillery are given extra maturation. The name OOG is pronounced oo-gie. A popular peated whisky from a standard range was finished in two historic PX sherry octaves, wood at least 30 to 40 years old. The casks were freshly seasoned with PX before filling and each was only half filled. The finish ran for over 325 days, through the winter cold and the heat of summer. It is bottled at 48.6% ABV, without chill-filtering or added colour, in an outturn of 64 bottles.
