David Nicholson Reserve is a Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 100 proof (50%) in a 75cl bottle. The brand's story begins in 1843, in the grocer's store of its namesake in St. Louis, Missouri.
It is a high-rye bourbon made from corn, rye and malted barley, distilled in copper pot stills at Lux Row Distillers in Bardstown, and aged for at least four years in new charred American white oak barrels. It is not chill filtered.
The nose is toasted oak, vanilla bean and caramel with dried fruit and rye spice. The palate brings charred oak, dark caramel, leather, baking spices and honey, and the finish is long, with oak tannins, dark chocolate, tobacco and pepper.
