Deanston – 12 Years Old Highland Single Malt (70cl, 46.3%)

Deanston 12 Years Old is a Highland single malt in a 70cl bottle, matured mainly in ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled at 46.3%, non-chill filtered and with natural colour. Deanston sits on the River Teith in a former cotton mill that became a distillery in 1966. The spirit is made from unpeated malt, and the whisky matures in dunnage warehouses inside the old mill building. Tasting notes describe a nose of fresh hay, malt, honey, green apple and citrus zest, with light floral and vanilla notes. The palate is creamy, with honey, orchard fruit, butterscotch, nutmeg and cinnamon. The finish is medium to long, with sweetness, oak and dry spice.
