Deanston – Virgin Oak (70cl, 46.3%)

Deanston Virgin Oak is a Highland single malt from a distillery that has operated in a former cotton mill by the River Teith since 1966. It is bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle, with natural colour and without chill-filtration. The whisky matured first in first-fill American bourbon casks, then spent 9 to 12 months finishing in fresh virgin oak. The nose is heavy with vanilla, citrus and caramel, alongside green apple and nutmeg. The palate is sweet and full-bodied, with candied fruit, vanilla, caramel and heather honey. The finish is mildly spiced, with honey sweetness fading slowly into soft oak.
