Dewar's 12 Year Double Aged is a blended Scotch whisky in which every component has spent at least 12 years in cask. It brings together up to 40 malt and grain whiskies, with Aberfeldy malt from Perthshire at its core. The blend was reworked in 2022 by Master Blender Stephanie Macleod.
After blending, the whisky goes back into oak for a second period of ageing, a Dewar's house practice. This version also has a finish in first fill American oak bourbon casks, adding vanilla, citrus and orchard fruit. It is bottled at 40% in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is fruity, with peach, apple, dried mango and pineapple, lemon zest, vanilla and a faint trace of smoke. The palate is smooth and slightly oily, with floral notes, white pepper and butterscotch.
