Domaine Badoz Marnes Rouges 2022

Marnes Rouges is an organic red wine from Domaine Badoz in the Jura, made from Trousseau, Pinot Noir and Poulsard. The grapes come from the Les Grands Roussots vineyard, where the soil is red marl, a clay mixed with sand and lime and coloured by oxidised iron. They were picked by hand and given a four-day cold maceration at 8°C, then fermented with natural yeasts and kept entirely in stainless steel tanks to leave the fruit untouched. The colour is a clear purple-red. Fresh and ripe dark berries lead on the nose, cherry above all. The palate is full and fairly powerful yet soft, with ripe, rounded tannins. It suits lightly chilled serving at about 16°C.
