This is a peated Islay single malt from the Caol Ila distillery, bottled by the independent bottler Douglas Laing. It carries the year 2015 and has been finished in ruby port casks.
The port finish adds red fruit, berries and a light sweetness that softens the peat without hiding it.
The nose combines peat smoke with red fruit, grape and spice, plus touches of vanilla and wood. On the palate there is smoke, red fruit, caramel and spice, in an ample, slightly oily texture. The finish is persistent, smoky, fruity and lightly spiced.
