Dramfool Middle Cut Mad Hut 2015 10 Year Old 1st Fill Oloroso Barrique (57.1%)

This is a 10 year old Speyside single malt from Mad Hut, distilled in 2015 and bottled by Dramfool from cask 170. It spent roughly its first eight years in a single bourbon cask, then its final twenty months in a first-fill Spanish Oloroso barrique. It is bottled at 57.1%, at natural colour and without chill-filtering, and 196 bottles were produced. The nose is rich with dark fruit, chocolate, Christmas cake and figs. The palate shows clear sherry influence, with plums, raisins, chocolate and caramel. A few drops of water bring out Demerara sugar, treacle and toffee.
