Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin (75cl, 41.5%)

An Irish gin crafted in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim, by Great Northern Distillery. The base spirit is distilled from grain neutral spirit, with botanicals including juniper berries, gunpowder green tea, citrus peels, lemongrass, angelica root, cinnamon and cubeb berries. The gunpowder tea gives a subtle smoky-herbal dimension. It is citrus-bright and herbally nuanced, with a gentle peppery warmth. The nose shows bright lime and lemon zest, fresh juniper and a soft herbal undertone, with a whisper of cinnamon and pepper. The palate is medium-bodied and lively, with citrus at the core, green tea-like vegetal notes, herbaceous lift, juniper, angelica earthiness and gentle spice. The finish is clean, slightly warming and lingering, with citrus peel, herbal hints and a whisper of black pepper.
