Dufftown – 11 Year Old Oloroso Cask Darkness (50cl, 58.5%)

This is an 11-year-old Dufftown single malt from Speyside, released in the Darkness series at 58.5% in a 50cl bottle. It was finished in small Oloroso sherry octaves, which bring a pronounced sherry influence with fruity, nutty and spicy notes. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring, keeping the dark colour it took from the cask. The nose combines porridge and hot raspberries with raisins, dates and cherry syrup, plus malt sweets, oak and roasted walnuts. The palate is dry and balanced, with burnt almonds, chocolate hazelnuts, roasted coffee, sweet malt, dried fruit, ripe cherries, cinnamon buns and cloves. The finish is long, with roasted nuts and dried fruit.
