This is Eagle Rare, a Kentucky bourbon distilled at Buffalo Trace Distillery and aged for a minimum of 10 years in new charred American oak barrels. It is bottled at 45% ABV (90 proof). The brand launched in 1975 using Seagram's aged stocks.
The nose offers toffee, orange peel, herbs, honey, leather and oak. On the palate it is smooth and dry, led by candied almonds and rich cocoa, with crème brûlée creaminess, honey, vanilla, cherry and gentle baking spices. The finish is dry and lingering, with oak, echoes of fruit, spice and understated warmth.
