Edradour – 12 Year Old Caledonia (70cl, 46%)

This is a 12 year old Edradour single malt in a 70cl bottle, selected by the songwriter Dougie Maclean and named after his song Caledonia. It is a handmade, small batch bottling. The whisky was first matured in Bourbon casks, then finished for 4-5 years in Oloroso casks. It is bottled at 46% ABV, with natural colour and without chill filtration. The distillery describes a nose of sultanas and figs balanced with honey. The palate is like liquid Christmas cake, with toasted almonds and a hint of orange spice, and the finish is gently warming, spicy and dry.
