Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Rye is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey made at Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown, bottled at 94 proof (47%). It extends the brand's toasted finishing approach to rye.
The whiskey is built on a mash bill of 51% rye, 35% corn and 14% malted barley. Once fully matured, it is moved into a second new oak barrel, custom toasted in partnership with Independent Stave Company.
The nose brings toasted oak, creme brulee, almonds, hazelnuts, cinnamon marshmallow and vanilla. The palate is soft and creamy, with milk chocolate, butterscotch, graham cracker, nutmeg and baking spice, and the finish carries sweet oak, milk chocolate and rye spice.
