Emperor's Way Frederick II is a single malt from the Hammerschmiede distillery in the Harz, bottled in 2026 as a tribute to the Roman-German emperor Frederick II.
It was distilled entirely from local barley, dried over Lower Saxon peat to as much as 35 ppm. Maturation took place in Amarone hogsheads and Marsala casks from 2016 to 2018. It is described as combining strong smoke with fruity notes.
Bottled at 57.1% ABV without added colour or chill-filtration, it is limited to 1,220 bottles.
