This is a German whisky from Elsburn, called The Harz, bottled in 2024 as Batch 1 at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The batch ran to 5,000 bottles.
It was matured in a mix of 13% bourbon casks and 87% sherry casks, and it is natural colour and non-chill-filtered.
The nose is gentle, with sweet dried fruit, vanilla, toffee and spicy malt. The palate is powerful yet silky, with fresh apricots, raisins, red berries and tropical fruit, plus creamy caramel, cream sweets, some oak spice and the faintest hint of wood smoke. The finish leaves soft milk chocolate, honey and fruit cake.
