Emperor's Way The Imperial Abbey is a peated German single malt from Hercynian Distilling Co. in the Harz. It is the first standard bottling of the Emperor's Way series and widens the distillery's core range. This is Batch 1, bottled at 48%.
The whisky was made from 100 per cent peated malt of up to 35 ppm and matured only in first-fill sherry casks that previously held Cream, Pedro Ximenez, Oloroso and Palo Cortado. The name comes from Walkenried monastery, close to the distillery.
It is described as balancing smoke, mandarin, raisins, Christmas cake, almonds, spicy oak and dark chocolate.
