eth Barrel 1 Eimverk Distillery Icelandic Rye Whisky (43%)

eth Barrel 1 is the first edition of an Icelandic rye whisky from the Eimverk Distillery in Garðabær, founded in 2009. It is made only from Icelandic rye grown on the distillery's family farm at the foot of the Hekla volcano, and it is bottled at 43% ABV. The spirit was distilled in 2019 and matured in virgin oak barrels kept in an unheated barn. This edition comes from a selection of just 20 casks. The nose has dried heather, old leather and fresh rye bread. The palate shows firm oak spice with peppercorns, juniper and dried thyme. The finish is dry and long, with cedar and toasted oak.
