Filey Bay Single Cask 2017 PX Sherry Hogshead German Selection (70cl, 59.8%)

This Filey Bay single cask whisky was distilled in February 2017 and bottled in January 2022, when it was just under five years old. It was matured in a Pedro Ximenez sherry hogshead, number 293, and filled at a cask strength of 59.8%. The cask gave 295 bottles of 70cl, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring. It was made by the Spirit of Yorkshire distillery. The nose brings dark chocolate, ripe dried dark fruit such as blackberry and plum, fresh ginger and light caramel, ending with sherry spice, some oak and coffee bean. The palate returns to dark chocolate, with fruity and malty sweetness, clear ginger, lightly burnt caramel and soft, spicy oak. The finish is medium in length, very warming and sweet.
