Fonseca Guimaraens Tawny is a Portuguese fortified wine from the Douro Valley, made by the port house Fonseca. It comes in a 75cl bottle at 20% vol.
As a tawny, it is shaped by a longer period of maturation in wooden casks. The wine is made from traditional Douro grape varieties. After fermentation, grape spirit is added, which raises the strength and keeps the wine's natural sweetness. The time in cask then largely decides its structure and aromas.
