This Glen Elgin was distilled in 2008 and matured for 11 years in Pedro Ximenez sherry hogsheads. Càrn Mòr bottled it at 47.5%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
It is a vatting of three hogsheads, filled into 1055 bottles. It is one of the first releases under Morrison & MacKay's newer approach of bottling larger batches.
The nose is rich and sweet, with ripe fruit, plenty of honey, pronounced sherry and dark fruit. The palate is full and sweet, with dark stewed fruit, a later hint of the wood, and a soft texture like very ripe jam. The finish is very long, with the dark sweetness of PX staying on the palate.
