This Glen Elgin is a Speyside single malt distilled in 1988 and bottled in 2019 at 30 years old, as part of the Wilson & Morgan Barrel Selection. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 51.1%.
The whisky matured in a second fill cask, which gave it a balance between delicate, floral notes and intense tropical fruit from the oak. The mouthfeel is robust, oily and thick.
Passion fruit, mango and a hint of grapefruit appear on both nose and palate, alongside chamomile, honey and beeswax. The overall impression is dry, and just before the end come pepper, mustard and a spicily tannic rush.
