This Glen Grant is a Speyside single malt, Edition No.42 from the independent bottler Whisky Sponge. It combines two first fill barrels filled in 1995, aged for 26 years and bottled at a natural cask strength of 50.6% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is fruit-forward, with apricot, peach, apple, barley sugar and melon sherbet, then honey and millionaire's shortbread. The palate opens on mandarin, tangerine, grapefruit and quince jelly, before polished oak, golden barley, stem ginger and white pepper. The finish is fairly long and mostly fruity, with sweetness tempered by tingly cask spices.
