This is a 26 year old Glen Grant, bottled by Whisky Sponge as Edition No.42. It is a Speyside single malt at a natural cask strength of 50.6% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was drawn from two first fill barrels filled in 1995 and bottled in 2021.
The nose is fruit-led, with apricot, peach, apple, barley sugars and melon sherbet, then honey and millionaire's shortbread. The palate opens on mandarin, tangerine, grapefruit and quince jelly, moving to polished oak, stem ginger and white pepper. The finish is fairly long, with fruit and tingling cask spice.
