An eleven-year-old Highland single malt from Glen Ord, filled into a first-fill Pedro Ximénez butt, cask 91, on 8 April 2015. Bartels Whisky chose it for the Highland Laird series and bottled it at cask strength, 49.2% ABV, in an outturn of 485 bottles.
The PX butt brings dark fruit, sweetness and spice to the Highland spirit.
The nose offers ripe plums and raisins with light malt, vanilla and a touch of cinnamon. On the palate, intense chocolate meets dried figs, with bitter, spicy oak and fine clove. The finish is long and spicy, with oak, a little pepper and lingering dark fruit.
