GlenAllachie – 11 Years Port Wood Finish

An 11 year old GlenAllachie single malt from Speyside. It spent its first nine years in American oak casks before being matured in ruby port pipes, which brings a good dose of chocolate and red stone fruit. The distillery was built in 1967 near Aberlour. Since 2017 it has been owned by a consortium around Billy Walker, who bought it from Chivas Brothers. The nose is floral, with Turkish delight, honeyed spice, melted dark chocolate and dark stone fruit. The palate has tart plum balanced by white and dark chocolate and fresh summer berries. The finish is dusty cocoa and frozen berries.
