GlenAllachie – 18 Years Old (70cl, 46%)

GlenAllachie 18 Years Old is a Speyside single malt, an official bottling at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It has a clearly sherried character and is non-chill-filtered, with no added colour. The distillery changed hands in October 2017, when Billy Walker and his business partners Trisha Savage and Graham Stevenson bought it from Pernod Ricard. For the 18 year old, Walker, as master distiller, chooses the casks once the whisky has reached the point he wants. The nose offers chocolate-coated Brazil nuts, floral honey, dark sugar and raisins. On the palate come silky toffee, dried heather and dense fruitcake, followed by a very long finish of caramelised nuts and baking spices.
