This is a 4 year old GlenAllachie single malt marking Master Distiller Billy Walker's fifty years in the whisky industry. It is the final bottling in The Past, Present and Future Series and the distillery's first peated release.
Made with mainland peat after a 160-hour fermentation, it was matured in former rye and bourbon barrels and some virgin oak casks. It is bottled at natural cask strength of 60.2% in a 70cl bottle, with no added colour or chill filtration, in a release of 10,000 bottles.
The nose is honeycomb, dried fruits and hazelnut with smouldering oak and cinnamon apples. The palate brings cinnamon stewed pears, toasted almonds, heather honey and pipe tobacco, then smoked barley and vanilla toffee.
