Glenallachie 8 Year Old Scottish Oak Wood Finish is a single malt bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It is part of the Wood Finish Series launched in 2019 by Billy Walker.
The finish uses Scottish sessile oak from the Atlantic coast, a wood that is hard to work into staves. It is said to add a sweetness to the whisky.
The nose shows toasted oats, caramel and toffee with cinnamon, ginger biscuits and heather honey. The palate is full of heather honey, fruit and lemon peel, then white chocolate, cinnamon and ginger. Caramel and butterscotch run into the finish.
