GlenDronach – Port Wood

GlenDronach Port Wood is a single malt from the Scottish Highlands. It is first matured for several years in ex-bourbon casks, then given a long finishing in port casks from Portugal's Douro valley. The port casks give it a rich, fruity character, set apart from the distillery's regular range, where ex-sherry casks usually lead. The nose has plums, blackberries and strawberry jam, with soft hints of cherry blossom and oak. The palate brings juicy berries, apple crumble, cherries and a touch of gingerbread. The finish is warm, with raisins and a hint of orange peel.
