Glenfarclas – 190th Anniversary 1970-2010 Edition (70cl, 51.4%)

This is a Glenfarclas single malt from Speyside, released for the 190th anniversary of the family-run distillery, founded in 1836. It is bottled at 51.4% in a 70cl bottle, which is 90 British proof, the measure the distillery used for the first 154 years. The whisky is a vatting of 78 casks from five decades, 1970 to 2010, and the edition is limited to 15,000 bottles. It is the final release in the distillery's Anniversary Trilogy, and the casks were selected by Distillery Manager Callum Fraser. The selection brings out fruitier notes from the 1970s, intense sherry character from the 1980s and 1990s, and toffee and caramel from casks filled in the 2000s.
