This is a 50 year old single malt from Glenfarclas, from the 1955 vintage. It is bottle number 35 of an edition of 110.
The notes describe a thick, resinous nose with a drift of smoke and a floral perfume, which opens with water into grilled nuts, fig jam and, given time, honey. The palate starts sweet, with light tea-like tannins, hard toffee, chestnut and ginger spice, and a silky feel. The finish is very long, with embers, oak and Dundee cake.
