Glenfarclas – 1965 40 Year Old Scott's Selection (70cl, 48.5%)

This is a 40 year old Glenfarclas from 1965, bottled by Scott's Selection at a cask strength of 48.5% in a 70cl bottle. Unlike the distillery's regular bottlings, which draw on a mix of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, this one was matured in sherry alone. The malt has come through the sherry influence well. The nose offers sherry, nuts, marzipan, orange and vanilla. On the palate come oak, apples and raisins, with real power, and the finish is long with sweet sherry.
