Glenfarclas – 1981 Port Cask Family Collection IV (47.9%)

Glenfarclas 1981 Port Cask IV is the fourth limited edition in the Family Collector Series from J. & G. Grant. It is a 35 year old single cask whisky, bottled at a cask strength of 47.9% in an outturn of 521 bottles. The whisky matured fully in a Port cask, rather than the Oloroso sherry casks more usually associated with Glenfarclas. The last Port cask bottling from the distillery was a 31 year old released in 2012, which makes this the oldest Port cask matured whisky J. & G. Grant has released. It was laid down in the family warehouses while George S. Grant was custodian of Glenfarclas, and a sweet port influence marks its character.
