Glenfarclas – 1986 Refill Sherry Butts Family Collection V (53.8%)

A 1986 vintage Glenfarclas, bottled at 53.8% as the fifth limited edition in the Family Collector Series from J. & G. Grant. It is a vatting of specially selected refill sherry butts, which bring a lighter sherry influence to the collection. The edition represents the fifth generation of the Grant family and the current chairman of the distillery, John L. S. Grant. The casks were filled in the 1980s, and in 1984 the family chose to increase production while many distilleries were closing or cutting back. This small batch of 1,094 bottles was released 30 years after the whisky was made.
