Glenfarclas was founded in 1836 by Robert Hay and bought by John Grant in 1865. It remains in the hands of the Grant family, who alongside the standard range regularly offer outstanding single casks and special bottlings.
The name means 'valley of the green grassland', and Oloroso sherry casks are the main casks used at the distillery.
