Glenglassaugh 12 Years Old is a coastal Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery sits on the edge of Sandend Bay and was silent for over two decades before it was revived.
The whisky is matured in three kinds of cask: bourbon, sherry and red wine. The warehouses by the sea are said to give it a slight saline edge.
The nose offers ripe stone fruits, vanilla custard and gentle oak. The palate is silky, with apricot, pineapple, honeycomb, toasted oak and a touch of sea salt. The finish is medium to long, with lingering fruit, soft caramel and a little brine.
