This is a 35-year-old Glenglassaugh single malt, distilled in 1978 and bottled in 2014 as a small batch distillery bottling for the Massandra Collection series. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 41.7% ABV, without colouring or chill filtration.
The whisky was matured in casks that had held madeira-style wine from Massandra, the former Tsarist wine estate in Crimea. It was released in an edition of 1320 bottles during Billy Walker's time at the distillery.
The nose offers creamy cantaloupe melon, sweet oak and a light sea air. The palate moves from ripe melon and sour plum to boiled sweets, dried apricot and a hint of mint, and the finish layers soft fruit with aged oak.
