Glenglassaugh – Octaves Peated

Glenglassaugh Octaves Peated is the peated expression in the distillery's second batch of octave-matured whisky. Octaves are small casks holding just 65 litres, which give the spirit a good deal of oak influence in a short time. The octaves used here were made from casks that previously held Bourbon, Port and Oloroso sherry. The result is a rich, sweet dram with a balanced, spicy peat smoke. The nose has sparkling oak and red grapes with a touch of chocolate, and burnt wood in the background. On the palate the smoke comes forward without the sherry sweetness becoming overbearing. The finish brings red chilli chocolate and flamed orange peel.
