Glenglassaugh – Sandend (70cl, 50.5%)

Glenglassaugh Sandend is a Highlands single malt without an age statement, in a 70cl bottle at 50.5% ABV. It is matured in bourbon, sherry and Manzanilla casks and is non-chill-filtered, with no added colouring. The name comes from the crescent-shaped Sandend Bay, beside which the distillery stands. It was one of three bottlings the brand introduced in 2023, and it has a tropical, salty coastal character. The nose combines soft, buttery vanilla ice cream with tropical fruit and chocolate, with a hint of sea salt. On the palate, salted caramel meets lively pineapple, cherry and grapefruit, with a maritime edge. The finish is long, subtle and slightly tart, with a fine note of spice.
