Glenkinchie 12 Year Old is a Lowland single malt from the Classic Malts range, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery stands at Pencaitland in East Lothian, south-east of Edinburgh, and ferments for at least 60 hours in six wooden washbacks.
Fresh grass and toasted malt meet a creamy sweetness, alongside flowers, vanilla and citrus and a restrained smoky, spicy side. The body is light and the finish dry.
On the nose come flowers and vanilla, with daffodils and a hint of lily, turning sweeter and creamier with time. The palate opens soft and sweet before the floral notes return, and the finish is herbal and dry.
