A Tale of Spices is a limited-edition Highland single malt from Glenmorangie, created by Dr Bill Lumsden and Master Blender Gillian Macdonald and inspired by the aromas and colours of global spice markets.
The whisky is matured in bourbon casks, then finished in four cask types: Moroccan red wine casks made from French oak, new charred oak casks, shaved and toasted red wine casks, and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The Moroccan casks had not been used at Glenmorangie before.
The nose is perfumed, with rose, jasmine, carnation, lilac, saffron and ginger. Ginger, black pepper and mustard seed lead the palate, balanced by mint toffee and demerara sugar. The finish is long and warming, with clove, peppermint and leather.
