Glenmorangie – Quinta Ruban 14 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

Quinta Ruban is a 14 year old Highland single malt from Glenmorangie, part of its Extra Matured range. It spent 12 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks, followed by two years in European oak casks that previously held ruby port. The name draws on the Portuguese quintas where port grapes are grown, and on the Gaelic word for ruby. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle and is non-chill-filtered. The nose combines ripe fruit and mint with cherry and raisins, and a trace of caramel or melted butter. The palate is medium-bodied, with almonds, walnuts, a little orange and some honey. The finish is medium and unctuous, with dried fruit and sweet citrus.
